In 2004, he graduated from the Kyiv National University of Theater, Film and Television named after Ivan Karpenko-Kary (The course of Oleg Shavarsky).

Oleksandr Formanchuk has been an actor at the Ivan Franko National Academic Drama Theater since 2004.

On August 24, 2021, he was awarded the title of "People's Artist of Ukraine".
