“The Little Mermaid” is an eternal tale of love that drifts across the centuries.
First brought to life in 19th century Denmark by the great Hans Christian Andersen – a master of luminous melancholy and poetic depth – this tale speaks not merely of a mermaid who fell in love with a prince, but of an inner sacrifice, of the profound force of feeling capable of transforming the very nature of existence.
The Little Mermaid is no mere heroine of childhood dreams. She is a symbol of selflessness and hope. And though earthly happiness proved beyond her reach, her heart attained immortality. She became a radiant spirit, returning to us time and again – whenever we dare to believe in love above all things.
