That is a play for the audience preferring traditional interpretation of the classic Chekhov’s play.
The performance is perfect by its clear and insightful dramatic composition seen even in actor’s costumes, and above all, by well-described characters’ psychology. Ranevskaya, tired of losses but not willing to get rid of her illusions, Lopakhin - “a new master of the universe” constantly afraid to lose, Gaev - a lazy spoiled guy, a kidult, interested in nothing but billiard. There are many characters, and all of them “unhappy in their own way” as Lev Tolstoy said, because they do not know where to find their faith in the future. All of them wait until the situation is resolved by itself. But no miracle comes. The cherry garden dies along with the dream of the sacred parental nest (actually ruined a long time ago). And there is only a deep sorrow on characters’ faces and tears in viewers’ eyes. We would like to believe that they are the tears of comprehending.
