What may happen to people on New Year's Eve or on Christmas Eve? Our hero went to an apartment for a date, and got into a completely different one. The owners of that apartment are an old maid and her sick mother, resigned to the thought that she is living out the last days. The daughter reads the English classic Charles Dickens to her mother and both of them dream of something so ghostly, beautifully romantic, sentimental, which can only be in novels from the distant 19th century.
But no ... Happiness may come to everyone’s house, if you only want to, desperately fight for it, not retreat at a critical moment, sacrifice the truth, and, as the Russian classic said, pour tears over fiction but in real life show the determined nature.
The theater has repeatedly addressed the creative work of the modern playwright N. Ptushkina. We may definitely say that her work is a kind of encyclopedia of morals reigning now and easily recognizable everywhere. We hope that the viewer will note in this statement the bright, non-standard, sometimes absurd peripetia and character traits characteristic of our present existence, in which, obviously, sometimes it is better to prefer dreams inspired by cruel realities. Or vise versa?
