Generous and inexhaustible fertile Ukrainian land gave the inexhaustible Svitoch to the universal human constellation of geniuses - Taras Shevchenko, Tiranoborets and the Prophet, the Speaker of Freedom, who put on guard with his fellow countrymen, “mute slaves:, fiery word, and screamed to them “Break your heavy chains! ".

Few of those who fell immortality, reached it at such a high price as Taras Shevchenko. His fate was full of the cruellest challenge and suffer. Shevchenko lived only 47 years, 25 of them he was a slave, and 10 of them he was in military service or exile. And the rest of his years he struggled poverty, diseases, and cherished a hope to a happy family, and sweet home at his own small village house in the motherland.

In this interpretation, despite of many years’ usual and cliched declarations and knowledge, the Poet’s and Artist’s life is harmonically filled with creation, love, disappointment, regret, hate, perplexity, famousness and neglectfulness, the eagerness to comprehend everything and everywhere...

“...This play is about a talented man crushed by the system. From the one hand, it hammered his talent, and from the other hand, it ruined his life. That is Shevchenko, not Shevchenko, and not only Shevchenko at the same time.

The performance is based on all Shevchenko’s poetry and memories about him. He was very different. He was weak, and strong, and kind, and unfair at the same time.

We took only one component of his personality, first of all, talents, therefore it is difficult to insist on a complete true identity of character. That is rather a legend about Shevchenko. However, based on the facts of his life.

The legend of a very talented man whose life was ruined by the system. He knew much, his feelings were strong, he deserved a great happiness, but it never came true.

... Each nation has its Shevchenko, as each nation has its Pushkin. And we have OURS!...”
